Suffering from Insomnia?

Insomnia. The dying breath of daylight breaks apart and dissipates like the top of a smokestack in winter. I am too occupied with my infinite list of night owl activities to see night creeping up around me, but there it is, making its way in and around every house in the neighborhood like an omnipresent serpent. I write music and play all through dusk and into the black of the night. The moon comes out to play and catches my eye. I look at him and he asks me if I have any midnight oil tonight? I tell him I him I'm saving it for 3:30. We stay up all night, talking and thinking and scanning the pages of meaningless areas of the digital abyss known as the internet. I pace around the room, TV, book, songs, computer, TV, book, songs, computer.....trying to wake my mind up enough to enjoy at least one of these things......but to no avail..3 AMC movies, 2 songs, 30 pages and a 50 google searches later the even the moon is looking tired. He says good morning and shuffles off to his bed behind the horizon. Eyes red and crackled, face drooping I am still furiously typing away, knuckles sore and wrists throbbing, throat hoarse...but I just don't want to stop. The sun peeks out to make sure the moon is fast asleep. Fragments of daylight give the night sky a soft (yawn) blue glow. Car doors begin slamming, hard rubber heels tap on concrete, engines give a nice.....oily cough and begin to hum as the early birds inside them steer them.....away to where the world begins its days. I am half....delirious with the lack of sleep but I feel no need for.......sleep. I decide (yawn) I will try. I lay in bed (yawn) staring at the ceiling until mid afternoon my daydreams overpower my conscious and I......fade out of the....sunny world to (yawn) join the moon in a deep..dark.....exaustion-induced.......sleep........ahh..................
